Creality makes a laser kit for their 3D printers, so it's definitely possible with little modification.
I'm planning on doing the same thing. And you can use a wireless Octopi or just a simple SD card to print outside, in your garage, or somewhere with better ventilation. What I'd really like to do is to get a toggle switch of some sort that will allow me to keep the stock part cooling fan and the laser connected at the same time, but toggle between them.
